Also make sure to let the renter know that they themselves can take out their own renters insurance as well.

The next thing you need to do is to make sure that each room you decide to use for storage has a secure lock that has a key for just you and the person that is renting the room for storage. It is also important to note that whatever is stored in your rooms are not dangerous or flammable types of items. This should be stipulated in your rental contract.

It is important that from the beginning you know that the room you are renting is free of pests. The last thing you need is for the renters property to be destroyed by some sort of pest infestation.

There are a number of different ways you can try advertising your rental space. One way is by placing an ad in your local newspaper. Another way could be by using a penny saver or nickel ad type publication if you have those in your area.

You can try using a broker as well. A broker will take care of all contracts for you and help you find the right insurance to have, types of security you need and much more. They also will help locate renters for you by putting you on their websites. However; this is probably the most expensive route to go.

If you are looking for a way to advertise the space without spending a dime, then the best way to do that would be to place a post on Craigslist. This is not only free and easy, but it is probably going to be the most successful way to find a renter. Only drawback with this is that you have to do a lot more screening because you will probably get a lot more people calling you through this venue.
